The Art District is a street of colourful public art in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), on the Red Sea coast north of Jeddah. It sits in the Bay La Sun area and is classed as an entertainment stop. People come to wander slowly, take photographs and enjoy a lighter, more playful side of the city after time on the water.
The walls and pavements are the main attraction. Graffiti, 3D paintings and murals by local artists line the street, and you will find a shark in sunglasses holding a surfboard, cheerful pineapple patterns, a portrait of Umm Kulthum and brightly painted stairs. The walk can begin at the well-known Lego bridge on the Marina Walk. The district is open from 08:00 to 18:00, and there is no minimum age, so families with very young children can visit. It makes a relaxed stop within a longer day in KAEC.
The district belongs to a large planned city covering 173 square kilometres, with green spaces, palm trees and a sea frontage. Nearby you can find Juman Park, the Royal Greens Golf Club and a range of restaurants, from seafood to fast food. Visitors must register their details on the city's website before entering KAEC, so it is worth doing that before you set off.
