Visitor Center Rijal Almaa Village
The Visitor Center at Rijal Almaa Village in Aseer introduces the history and culture of the region and its stone-built mountain village, with exhibition halls open six days a week.
The Visitor Center Rijal Almaa Village is a culture and history museum in Aseer, in southern Saudi Arabia. People come to understand the mountain village of Rijal Almaa before they walk its lanes, and to hear the stories of the people who lived there. Entry is open to visitors of every age.
Inside, dedicated exhibition halls trace the history of Aseer from prehistoric times through to the Saudi era. The displays pair modern museum methods with the region's own building traditions, and they give particular attention to Rijal Almaa Governorate and the heritage village itself. You can look at the village's mountain architecture, its stone-built houses and its traditional layouts, and see objects and stories linked to local life. The centre is open Saturday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Friday from 13:00 to 18:00.
Rijal Almaa is a historic mountain settlement known for its distinctive stone-and-mud buildings, set in the landscape of the Asir highlands. It is regarded as one of the best-known historical places in the south of the country, and it appears on Saudi Arabia's UNESCO Tentative List, though not yet on the main World Heritage List. The centre helps connect the houses you see outside with the wider story of the region, its natural setting and the identity of the people who built there.
