Jeddah Corniche is a waterfront promenade in Jeddah, on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, stretching for more than 30 kilometres. People come to walk, jog, cycle, sit by the water or simply watch the city at leisure. It is open 24 hours and has no minimum age, so it suits a family with small children as easily as an early-morning runner.
Along the way you will find public artworks by regional and international artists, including sculptures linked to the Jeddah Open-Air Museum. The landscaped paths are shared by walkers and cyclists, and there are parks, play areas for children and palm-shaded spots to rest. The King Fahd Fountain sends its spray high enough to be seen from across the city, and the Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina is close by. Cafés, food trucks and shaded plazas make it easy to stop for a snack.
The sea is what gives the Corniche its character, with gentle waves rolling in beside the promenade. Many visitors choose to come in the evening, when the sun sets over the Red Sea, the light settles on the water and the sky turns soft shades of pink. It is a calm hour in a busy city, and a good moment for photographs.
